The application to ESSEC is quite straightforward and the following are the general documents required:
Essays:
The 2 essays are quite thought-provoking and aim to understand the experiences and values that are close to the applicant’s heart. The essays are as follows:
- What matters most to you, and why? Tell us the values and experiences that have shaped the person you are?
- Provide to the admission committee any relevant additional information?

Referral form for ESSEC:
The applicant needs to provide the name of the recommender (preferably 2), his/her email id and the relationship with the recommender. ESSEC then automatically sends them an online referral form which consists of the following questions:
Q. How long have you known the candidate? In what context?
Q. What do you consider to be the candidate’s major strengths?
Q. What do you consider to be the candidate’s major weaknesses?
Q. Would you recommend the candidate’s admission to a demanding post-graduate program in business administration?
Apart from these questions, the referral form may include some metrics and ask your recommender to rate you from outstanding to poor.
The interview round:
After approximately 2-3 weeks you should get an invite for the live interview which will be conducted usually in Mumbai or Delhi. Be well prepared for the interview and do your research about the school as much as possible.

- Tell me about yourself.
- Why do you want to pursue Masters in Management?
- Why do you want to study at ESSEC?
- Have you applied to other schools?
- Do you plan to study in Singapore campus?
- Have you looked at any specific tracks at ESSEC?
- When do you plan to graduate from ESSEC? Have you looked at exchange degrees?
- What are your career goals after ESSEC?
- Have you ever visited a foreign country? If yes, talk about your experience.
- Do you have any questions for me?
