ESMT is a business school located in Berlin and has been creating some noise in the past few years for its uniquely structured Masters in Management program. It is known for its course being industry oriented, constantly evolving and the module based study structure. The school values social commitment, business mindset, and diverse backgrounds.

The application to ESMT is quite straightforward and the following are the general documents required:

1. Passport
2. GMAT/GRE/CAT score
3. IELTS/TOEFL (optional)
4. One Motivation Letter
5. 2 LOR (specific format/ open-ended)
6. Resume/ CV
7. Application-based questions about activities
8. 3 essays of varying word limits and one additional scholarship essay

Essays:

The 4 essays are quite comprehensive and aim to assess the candidate’s fit for the program. The essays are as follows:

1. Please give us a frank description of yourself, stressing your strengths and weaknesses and the main experiences that have had an impact on your personal development. Please state examples.
2. What matters most to you and why?
3. Please elaborate on your short- and long-term career goals and how ESMT’s Masters in Management program will help you achieve these?
   
4. Please name the scholarship program you are applying for and explain why you qualify for this particular scholarship. Kindly note that if no specific scholarship program is mentioned, your request will not be considered

Referral form for ESMT:

ESMT allows the candidate to upload an already prepared recommendation letter with an open ended format.

Alternately, the applicant needs to provide the name of the recommender (2), his/her email id and the relationship with the recommender. ESMT then automatically sends them an online referral form which consists of the following questions:

Q. What do you believe are the candidate’s most noteworthy qualities? Can you list factors that distinguish the candidate from other individuals at his/her level.

Q. What are the candidate’s major weaknesses? Comment on his/her efforts to improve them.

Q. Please comment on the candidate’s potential for international management.

Q. Please comment on the candidate’s behaviour or skills in a group setting / team environment.

Q. Please describe situation(s) or incident(s)  based on first-hand experience which illustrate(s) candidate’s sense of purpose and maturity.

Apart from these questions, the referral form may include some metrics and ask your recommender to rate you on a percentile scale.

The interview round:

After approximately a week you should get an invite for the skype interview which will be conducted by the ESMT admissions team. Be well prepared for the interview and do your research about the course module and USPs of ESMT.

2. Why do you want to pursue Masters in Management?
3. Why do you want to study at ESMT?
4. Why do you think you are a good fit for ESMT?
5. Do you know about the social impact project in the course?
6. Have you looked at any specific tracks at ESMT?
7. What are your career goals after ESMT?
8. Do you have any questions for me?
